Anti Smoking
|
"Kick It" - Smoking
Rather than producing a video on general drugs awareness, we have focused purely on the dangers of cigarette smoking. This is for two reasons. Firstly, we believe being offered cigarettes is the first opportunity children are given to find the wherewithal to be assertive in relation to potential problems with drugs. Secondly, quite simply, every year around 120,000 smokers die as a result of their habit. The two factors are not unrelated. In any event approximately 450 children start smoking every day in Britain and almost no-one starts smoking as an adult. The majority of people who take up smoking do so in adolecence.
"Kick It" - Smoking is approximately 5 minutes in length and delivers a powerful anti-smoking message for children of all ages. The video is suitable for Key Stages 2 & 3and considers: what is in a cigarette, how smoking can affect your health and performance at sport, the social and financial costs and peer group pressure. The accompanying notes are designed to augment the video material and provide teachers with ideas for classwork and extension activities, such as discussion/group work. |
Anti Bullying
|
"Kick It" - Bullying
"Kick It" - Bullying is approximately 5 minutes in length and is suitable for Key Stages 2 & 3 . The video expertly introduces the corporate responsibility of sports culture into simple messages for tackling bullying in peer groups.
The anti-bullying video sympathetically challenges current notions of what constitutes bullying. Covering racism, what people laughingly refer to as disability, institutional and the more immediate forms of bullying for school children. The accompanying notes are designed to augment the video material and provide teachers with ideas for lesson plans, classwork and extension activities, such as discussion/group work.
London Bus have ensured that the standard of production has produced an unforgettable visual experience. So many well meaning videos fail to hit the mark with young people purely because they cannot compete with the sophisticated images that children are bombarded with on a daily basis. |
Anti Binge Drinking
|
“Kick It” - Binge Drinking
Because sensible alcohol consumption is prevalent in numerous social settings, condemning drinking carte blanche is not a credible message to young people, so, rather than producing a video covering the usual information about alcohol, we have focused purely on the dangers of binge drinking. This is for two reasons. Firstly, we believe being offered alcohol is one of the first opportunities children are given to find the wherewithal to be assertive in relation to potential problems with drugs. Secondly, quite simply, every year around 30,000 people die from alcohol related illness. The two factors are not unrelated.
“Kick It” - Binge Drinking is approximately 10 minutes in length and delivers a powerful anti-binge drinking message aimed at children aged ten to sixteen and is therefore suitable for Key Stages 3 & 4. The video covers topics such as binge drinking effects, alcohol information and health issues, peer pressure and personal safety. |
